Hello from Alaska, USA!
My name is Greg and I am blessed to live in such a beautiful place, doing what I love to do most, write.
I believe great writing is about being able to make connections. It's more than words. It's about provoking new thought, stirring up emotion or simply adding value for the reader. I always begin client conversations with the question: What are you hoping to achieve or what compelled you to go into business? You would be surprised at how many organizations struggle to answer this question.
Many of my early experiences were in creative writing, research and curriculum development. My undergraduate degree emphasized business and marketing, while my graduate work was in education; particularly online writing and distance learning. As I entered the working world, my skills expanded into grant writing, proposals and technical writing. Later, I focused on white papers, speech writing, research and analysis. I've done a bit of everything. You will find deep experience with for-profit and nonprofit communities alike, serving at every level; from classroom to boardroom. I enjoy the collaborative process of identifying purpose, delivery and audience while delivering a top-notch communication; on time and on budget.
But enough about me.
What I hope to pass on from my service in the nonprofit community, specifically in the grant writing world, is knowledge. That would be the educator in me coming out. My goal is for this blog to be that vehicle. I want to take you on a journey, from beginning to end, of what it takes to research, create and manage successful grants including the resources you'll need to tell your story and change the world (or something like that.) Whenever possible, blog posts will follow an order of the grant writing process, from beginning to end.
So, with that...let's ride!
Greg
